The Heartbeat of the Jeppe Community
At Jeppe High School for Girls, we deeply value the involvement of our parents and guardians. The Parent Association (PA) plays an integral role in the life of our school, providing a meaningful way for families to engage with and support not only their daughters, but the broader Jeppe community.
The PA serves as a vital platform for parents to connect with the school’s values, traditions, and vision. Our archives show that the very first meeting of what was then called the Mothers’ Association took place in 1928. Today, we proudly continue this rich legacy of service, commitment, and community-building.
One of the core values of Jeppe High School for Girls is to nurture well-rounded, enquiring young women who think critically, engage constructively, and contribute meaningfully to society. Parent involvement reflects and reinforces this value showing our girls that we, too, are invested in their school environment and are willing to lead by example. As Mahatma Gandhi so wisely said, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
The PA is involved in both large and small school initiatives. Major annual events like the Jeppe Flower Show and the Fun Run are highlights on the calendar and showcase not only our beautiful school, but also the vibrant Jeppe spirit that thrives in every student and family. These are more than just fundraisers they are celebrations of community. In addition, the PA supports numerous school activities such as house plays, choir concerts, cultural showcases, and sporting events. Wherever there’s a need, the PA steps in whether it’s to coordinate logistics, offer refreshments, or simply provide a helping hand.
Volunteer opportunities are shared regularly via the PA communication group. Parents can easily sign up for events by clicking a link to select where and when they’d like to assist making it simple and flexible for all.
Importantly, all funds raised by the PA are directed toward projects that have a tangible and lasting impact on our school, managed in partnership with the School Governing Body (SGB) and school leadership. As Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” This philosophy is at the heart of what the PA represents.
Being part of the Parents Association means being part of something greater — a supportive, active community that believes in quietly getting the job done, for the benefit of our girls and the school we all love.
