Congratulations to our SACEE debaters! On Sunday 10th May they took part in three debates as part of the first round of the league and won them all.
The first debate was against KES who proposed the motion ‘Grant immunity to mercenaries who train national armies to fight terrorists in their nations’. Jeppe Girls was the opposer.
The topic for the second debate was ‘In the spirit of the “Rhodes must fall” movement, this house would demolish the Voortrekker monument.’ The motion was proposed by Saheti and opposed by Jeppe.
The motion for the third debate was ‘This house would allow people to auction off their virginity on the internet.’ This was proposed by King David Linksfield and opposed by Jeppe.
Sunday’s successes meant that Jeppe Girls won four out of the six debates of the first round of the SACEE league and were one of the fourteen schools who made it through to the next round. We came 10th out of approximately all 30 teams that participated in the first round.
