In true Jeppe spirit, each participant will support an organisation close to their heart, turning every step into something meaningful. That’s not all, our Grade 9s will also be bringing the energy with their Market Day, showcasing their entrepreneurial flair. To keep everyone fueled the PA will be selling delicious food and drinks. On 27 June, we gathered to celebrate and honour Mr Rob Aitchison , a man whose dedication, vision, and passion have left an enduring mark on our school community.

Mr Aitchison has played a key role in numerous transformative projects at Jeppe, including the development of the Media/STEM Centre, the opening of Somerset House (our boarding facility), the installation of solar panels, and many other initiatives that have advanced the school’s infrastructure and innovation. He has been a driving force behind these achievements, always championing progress with unwavering commitment.

Having first joined the Jeppe family as a parent, Mr Aitchison became an active member of the Parents’ Association (PA), contributing meaningfully to school events such as the Matric Dance, MA Dance, and other community-building activities. The PA is now led by his sister, Mrs Michelle Smith, who continues the family’s legacy of service.

In recognition of his extraordinary contributions, Mr Aitchison was honoured with a commemorative bench and plaque engraved with the name "Aitchison" , a lasting tribute to a name that has become synonymous with dedication and generosity at Jeppe.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr Aitchison and the Aitchison family for their years of support, love, and unwavering commitment. Their impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.

Youth Month Celebrations in Full Swing

To mark Youth Month in a fun and nostalgic way, our amazing teachers stepped back in time proudly donning their very own school uniforms. They hosted a vibrant Cake & Candy Sale, showing our learners how it's done. From sweet stacks of pancakes to savoury snacks, hearty soups and spicy samoosa's, our learners were absolutely spoiled for choice with a delicious spread that had something for every craving.

It was a day filled with smiles, treats, and a wonderful sense of Jeppe spirit. Thank you to our teachers for bringing the energy and making this celebration so special.

What an exciting experience for two of our music t

What an exciting experience for two of our music teachers to take part in the World Symphony Series with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra at the Linder Auditorium last night. The programme included magnificent works by Beethoven and was conducted by world-renowned South African conductor – Conrad van Alphen. With Beethoven’s 6th symphony being a prescribed work for Grade 12, it was an inspiring opportunity to enhance their musical knowledge and appreciation. Our Grade 12 learners were fortunate enough to attend the final rehearsal in the morning, and some Grade 11 learners attended the concert in the evening.

At our first assembly following the exams, we were honoured to welcome Mr. Madzadzi from Masiqhakaze Secondary School, who delivered an inspiring and memorable message to our learners. With wisdom and warmth, he shared the powerful S.U.C.C.E.S.S. formula, a guide to achieving both personal and academic excellence.

To strive for success, Mr. Madzadzi encouraged us to embrace the following principles:
• S – Solve problems with a positive attitude
• U– Unleash your unlimited potential
• C – Cultivate creativity in all aspects of your life
• C – Care for others and practice empathy
• E – Exude energy and enthusiasm in everything you do

His message served as a powerful reminder that success is not only about achievement, but also about attitude, compassion, and purpose. Our learners left the assembly feeling motivated and empowered to apply this formula in our lives, both inside and beyond the classroom.

As we commemorate 49 years since the Soweto Uprising, we reflect on the courage of the youth who stood up for justice and equality. Their bravery paved the way for generations to come, for learners who continue to shine in academics, sport, and the cultural arts.

Youth Day is more than a history lesson it’s a call to reflect, and act. It’s a powerful reminder of the ability of young people to drive transformation and lead with purpose. Today, we’re inspired to support and empower the youth of South Africa as they build a brighter, more equal tomorrow.

Organisations like WESSA, Greenpeace, and UNEP have emphasised the urgent issue of plastic waste and its harmful effects on our environment, ecosystems, and health.

At Jeppe High School for Girls, a proud Eco-School (Platinum 2, Year 7), we remain committed to environmental responsibility beyond just one day.

Through initiatives like our #NoBalloons Policy, Plastic Bottle Tops and Bread Tag Collections, Eco-Bricks, and our ongoing #AntiLitterCampaign, we encourage the entire Jeppe Community to reduce waste, especially plastic, and adopt sustainable waste management practices. This past Sunday, our very own Ms Fabricius and Dr Harmer completed a 60km training ride in preparation for their Trap de Val 100 Miler mountain bike ride on 31 May. This 162km race will commence in Gauteng and end at the Val Hotel in Mpumalanga. We are so proud to have these two athletes wear the Jeppe colours as they ride in support of the Teddy Bear Foundation. Jeppe Gold indeed.
